What is Earthing/Grounding?

Earthing, or Grounding, is the process of absorbing Earth’s free electrons into our body through our skin, to neutralize the free radicals rummaging through our bodies. Free radicals are defined as molecules with an unpaired electron. These radical molecules cause dis-ease and disease within our bodies.

By exposing our skin to Earth’s natural elements (water, sand, grass, dirt, mud, rock, concrete, and brick, etc.) we can absorb Earth’s free electrons from her magnetic core. Activities such as walking barefoot, swimming or wading in natural bodies of water, and digging in soil, sand, etc. with our bare hands, all afford the opportunity to neutralize the free radicals within our bodies. The important piece of info here is that we have skin to Earth contact.

Earthing Awakens our Energy

We are electromagnetic beings. Our electrical system is responsible for regulating the beat of our hearts, our breathing, and is the super highway and power source for all of our body’s functions and information exchanges. It stands to reason then that if our electrical system is overloaded with free radicals that can interrupt its proper functioning, our energy levels tank. As a result, our productivity and prosperity eventually tank.

Sources of free radicals include chemicals, highly processed foods, and prolonged exposure to EMFs. By Earthing regularly and neutralizing the unpaired electrons with free electrons from Earth’s magnetic field, we awaken our energy field and top it off with a positive charge, similar to the action of antioxidants. Our body is able to regain its natural state of balance.

Earthing Aligns us with Nature

Earthing is a fundamental practice for aligning us with Nature. When we become aligned with Nature, we are able to see, feel, and care for her on a profound level. We realize our interconnectedness with her. We understand that her health is dependent on our health and that our health is dependent on her health. We begin to understand the impact of our choices and we align our collective actions to level up our sustainability footprint, fully grounded in the knowledge that neither can survive, let alone thrive, without the other.

Earthing Harmonizes our Health

Our health is the most important aspect of our life. If we are in a state of dis-ease or disease, we are not performing at our peak and life begins to fall into a state of decline. Earthing affords us the opportunity to engage in a self-care and self-healing practice.

There are many health benefits, physically, mentally, and emotionally, that Earthing affords. According to Chopra, physically, you may notice: improvement in your sleep quality and quantity, a reduction in stress, a reduction in pain and inflammation, increased circulation, and an increase in healing response. Emotional and mental benefits of being grounded may include feeling centered, balanced, strong, and overall healthy.

Earthing Resources

In the interest of full disclosure, Earthing/Grounding can also be performed indoors with grounding mats and bed linens for those who live in areas where outdoor Earthing is not practical or recommended, or for those unable to do so for health reasons. Grounding shoes are also available.
